LEADERSHIP MATTERS COURSE - HIGHLIGHTS FROM SENEGAL !

As I look back on this most recent course in Dakar/Senegal, let’s praise God and pray together for this unique privilege of being a trainer in developing other workers to be better leaders.

Highlights:

Ministry leaders from CMA and other missions responding so well to the challenges of the course content.

Many participants working in French speaking Africa asking when this course will be available in the French language. There is so much potential.

Discovering all the ministry challenges in Senegal especially amongst the Wolof peoples group who are majority Muslim

group with few Christians.

Seeing street children begging in the streets of Dakar. Good to know some of the course participants have vital ministries to reach them.

I stayed quite healthy all throughout the course and succeeded in killing a massive amount of mosquitoes !

Lydie continues to be challenged and excited about her studies at Bible College in Geneva.

Anne is in the process of planning other training seminars for her AidsLink Ministry with OM based in South Africa, this time in Malaysia in March.

Thank you so much for being a part of this team !

PRAISE AND PRAYER FROM THE LORIMERS IN FRANCE

Dear Friends !

Two key points and a new family photo attached (we're not often all together). Please feel free to use it
as the new Lorimer photo.

1. PRAISE
For our daughter Alexa who has responded to her chemo so well, no trace of her Hodgkins disease
and she finished her chemo treatments yesterday, 5th Jan. She has a visit next month at the hospital and
will start a next semester (hopefully more normal ! ) in her studies here at University.

2. PRAY !

Chris leaves Friday (Jan. 8-24) for Dakar, Senegal for a Leadership Matters Course which is a first in this Frenchspeaking
Muslim dominated coutry of West Africa. Our team of 10 trainers will spend 2 FULL weeks of interactive training in Mangagement, Communications, Personal Relations, Public Relations, Life Journey Project, Decision Making, and lots of other great stuff that often challenges the 30 participants from different Missions.

This courese touches the core of a person's ministry and life, and tears often flow in discovery and challenge during this time of intense training.

Pray for Chris :
-in his sessions of leading in the area of Public Relations
-in individual coaching sessions as well as small group sessions
-safe travel and health in this high malaria area.

We are joyful knowing you are in partnership with us !

Hello Debbie,

And all the best to you and your family at the start of this New Year.

We want to communicate better in 2010 with you there in New Ipswich. I have included the others on committee that you sent to me, and I am depending on you guys to send me any changes in your email lists.

1. Friday I leave for another Leadership Matters Course in Senegal, and I'm excited because it's a French speaking country where most people claim to be Muslims. I'll be in a team of 10 trainers with leaders and potential leaders (white guys and Africans) of about 30 in number who will give two weeks to learn to become better leaders. OM, Wycliffe and other missions are committed to this training course which has touched over a 1200 participants. This has been a constant in my ministry for the last 5 years. If you look at the web site at
www.leadershipmatters.ws    you can get a sense of what the course is all about. One of the pictures in the moving picture show has me on a jeep in Cameroon last year. We are slowly developing this course for French speaking leaders . You can pray for that as you also read our Major Ministry Objectives attached.
PRAY

2. To get to know more about OM (Operation Mobilization), the best is to go to their website at:
www.omusa.org

-check out what you think would be helpful, and you can go and find France by clicking on "Where we Serve", then 'France'
-one of my key areas of ministry activity is (see on right side) the setting up of teams for TRANSFORM 2010 which concerns summer outreach projects in about 21 coutries that surround the Mediterranean sea. You will not yet see the options for France because we are still in the process of posting them, but they'll be up there soon. We have three teams I'm working on here:
1. one amongst Muslims here in Montpellier in partnership with AWM (Arab World Ministries)
2. church team near Nimes, working with a re-opening of an old Methodist chapel
3. church team in Carpentras, up the Rhone Valley, vibrant church wanting to use the OM summer team to reach out to another city called "Isle sur Sorge".
My main job for this ministry area is to work with the receiving churches in these places to create a solid outreach project so all is ready when the teams arrive in July. I like doing this, did this years ago in my younger years. I will certainly visit and be preaching in these places and working with pastors and leaders in coming weeks and months.
PRAY

3. Local Church News.
Both Danièle and I much more involved here in our local church, I in preaching and training young men, Danièle in the ever growing outreach to children that she enjoys. We have a clear idea of wanting to grow, and have plans for a building project, etc. Lots of students could be coming to this church, Montpellier is a big university city. In Feb I will be giving a training session for young men, and I've been asked to do a whole morning on the theme of Mariage (what a challenge since we all have challenges in our mariages, right !!!).
PRAY

4. Lorimer family
Although this is not the main emphasis of this email, I think it's good to say that as you pray for us, pray also for our girls who in fact are pretty convinced about Jesus as Lord and missions.
See our brand new family picture attached !

Anne: works in South Africa with OM and serves in AidsLink, an international ministry to develop training for people working with aids infected people. She has been there for almost two years, and plans to be back in France next year.

Lydie: after doing university degree, has decided to train for full time Christian work, and is currently in Bible School in Geneva. Pray for her future.

Alexa: yes, just getting over chemo treatment, and leads worship at church very often, and will be finishing her BA this summer. Pray for decisions and guidance as she seeks God's best next step for her !

Well, Debbie, I didn't intend to write all this but here it is ,and i guess you can use all of this plus attachements as a file on us for new people and to share with all the friends there at NICC ! We would like to come to the USA some time and need to know God's timing for a visit to you guys there in NH !

We appreaciate your partnership !!!!

Major Ministry Objectives :   Chris et Danièle Lorimer

Operation Moblisation France

Train new leaders in and outside France with an accent on African French speaking leaders thru the Leadership Matters Course.

This dynamic interactive training course is given by an experienced team of trainers belonging to an expanding network of missions. A participant comes out of the two intensive weeks of training not only with management and leadership skills but with a new vision of his/her potential for growth and development. 10 trainers live and train the 30 plus participants during a 13 day non-stop building block experience.

Together with other missions we are developing this course in the French speaking world with a growing accent on the upcoming leaders in French speaking Africa. Chris concentrates on training in the area of Public Relations.

OM France’s southern France rep. with a special accent on the putting into place summer evangelistic teams for the OM Transform 2010 Project.

Just coming back into OM France (Chris led as director the work for 10 years). The Lorimers spent 30 years with OM France.

OM France has given Chris the challenge to connect with churches and other missions to set up OM summer teams to work in France following the major training Congress (in Rome) called Transform 2010. OM in Europe will be sending evangelistic teams to work in 21 countries surrounding the Mediterranean Sea.

Our project in France will concern teams working with churches, as well as one team working amongst Muslims, most likely working in Montpellier together with another mission specializing in reaching out to these people.

Ministry in the growing local church of “La Pompinagne” (Very new, just starting).

Connected recently to this growing young church of about 15 years old, we will be seeking to play our part with our gifts in the growth of this dynamic church that has vision and faces challenges for the future. We are in discussion with the current leadership team of this church as to how we can invest with them.

Dear Missions Committee at NICC,

Greetings to you from summertime France in our Lord’s Name.

As you know, we have been involved for three years in our ministry with Wycliffe in two main ministry areas that can be summarized as:

1) Training leaders thru the Leadership Matters Course.

2) Project Funding for Bible Translation Projects for Francophone Africa.

We have seen some very good progress in both of these areas of ministry. Plans for the Leadership Matters Course to be given in French will happen in January 2011 for African leaders.

In the area of project funding, we have had the privilege via Wycliffe France to mobilize for the first time French people to fund a key Wycliffe Bible translation project in Francophone Africa (Central African Republic). This project is off to a great start with three African translators.

When we came three years ago with Wycliffe France here in the city of Valence, we really thought it would be for a longer term involvement. However, during this year we sensed God pushing us to move on to another ministry, and so it is with a sense of His leading that we have recently made a clear decision that we need to change our ministry involvement which entails leaving Wycliffe Bible Translators.

We want to reassure you that our decision is not based on anything related to personal conflict within our Wycliffe family here. We will be leaving a great bunch of people who are doing excellent work for the Lord.

Chris strongly feels he needs to concentrate his talents and gifts much more in the area training, teaching, and preaching. Although we have been happy to start a new ministry for Wycliffe, there is more ‘office work’ and not enough ‘people contact’ in the nature of project funding.

For the last few months we were wondering of course what Mission we should be working with. Just recently we received a clear invitation from Operation Mobilization France to work with them in the southern part of France where OM hasn’t worked for quite a long time.

The three main areas of our ministry involvement will center around the following areas:

1. Setting up short term evangelistic teams with OM for the summer of 2010. This means contacts with churches as well as preaching and teaching.

2. Continuing involvement in Leadership Matters Courses (OM and Wycliffe are both involved in this ministry of training leaders). This part of our ministry remains unchanged.  We are excited about this course being offered in French to leaders in Africa starting January 2011 in Yaoundé, Cameroon.

3. Active involvement in a church project in Montpellier. As a couple we are looking forward to this new opportunity.

Although we will be moving to Montpellier near the end of this month to start our new ministry activities, the administrative and financial changes for all of this will take place at the end of this year.   All financial support should continue to go to Wycliffe until further notice.

As of  1st September, our postal address will be:

Res. Le Barcelone Bat. 24

145 rue Guillaume Janvier

Our email will stay the same : lorimer1234@gmail.com

Many thanks for your continued partnership as we continue to ministry for Him here in France !

Dear Friends at New Ipswich ,                                           Valence, France, 28th April

Greetings from Valence here in France. Can you please make sure this gets passed around. Thanks !

Our main reason for writing is to update you with events that will be happening soon in our ministry. Please read, share with others, and pray with us for the challenges ahead !

LEADERSHIP MATTERS COURSE IN TURKEY   1-17 MAY

Chris leaves Friday for Istanbul for yet another LMC in this intriguing land of Turkey outside of Istanbul. The last LMC took place 2 years ago near the Biblical city of Ephesus, just two weeks after 3 workers had been assassinated in the eastern part of the country.

He is one of the trainers in a team of 12 that will spend two weeks with leaders and potential leaders of missions who will send 36 participants to learn interactively and intensely about being better managers/leaders, communicators, public relation agents, team builders, decision makers, as well as developing a personal “life management plan” for growth in each of their lives. A very very intense two weeks ahead. Lord, give me strenght !!

Yes, this is very intense, but the course has a direct impact on the participants, and we are convinced it is one of the unique courses in the mission world to train workers on the field.

Chris considers it a privilege to be involved in such a training experience that deeply touches the lives of leaders around the world. Participants will be coming from many countries around Turkey (some we cannot even mention). Thanks for your prayers !

During that time Danièle will be in Paris visiting some of her clients (bookstores, etc) as she continues to work for the Christian post card and calendar distributor which means three visits a year to Paris.

LUKE PARTNERSHIP PROJECT

We are equally excited about the progress of Wycliffe France’s goal to connect French Christians with a specific Bible Translation Project composed of African translators in French speaking Africa.

Imagine, French Christians making it financially possible so that a team of three African translators can give the New Testament to their own people !!

We have seen in the last few months individuals (and a few churches) contribute around $ 12 000 US dollars to the Banda-linda Luke project. The initial aim of this project now off to a good start is to translate the gospel of Luke in this unwritten language as well as produce the Jesus Film in the language.  All this in 3 to 4 years.

Please continue to pray with us as we continue to share this and mobilize prayer and funds for this motivating project here in France that touches French speaking Africa.

SOME FAMILY NEWS

Anne, with AidsLink (based in South Africa, a ministry of OM) continues to enjoy her work of training in prevention of Aids. She has decided to stay with this unique ministry for at least another year.

Lydie, working in Montpellier in a bi-lingual school (and sharing an appartment with Alexa), has decided to do a year Certificate at Geneva Bible School. She seems quite excited about the whole thing.

Alexa, will stay in Montpellier next school year and finish her BA in Cinema and Audiovisual Arts. She seems to have found an interesting job of filming while flying in a small plane in order to produce pilot lessons as online courses.

We mention our girls and simply ask you continue to pray for them as they want to serve the Lord !

May the Lord grant you daily strength and peace to follow Him one day at a time !

Yours from France,

Dear Friends in USA and all over,

Greetings from Valence here in France !

The Leadership Matters Course in Cameroon was indeed a great adventure. Thank you for praying for Chris during his time there where he thinks he avoided the Malaria carrying mosquitos (have to wait awhile of course).

A lot of the work is done at tables. Chris leads a discussion

Our group was smaller than usual but the impact on the lives of these leaders (mostly from Wycliffe/Sil Cameroon and Campus Crusade for Christ) will be real and touch others as well.

Here is our team of trainers, from Australia,Hollande, France, Cameroon, USA, South Africa ! (unfortunately the pictures did not transfer.)

Many were French speaking (bi-lingual French/English speaking). Our only participant from Chad was Batein, a church leader presiding over a family of 1700 churches! He is so motivated to put into practise so much of what he learned.

This coming weekend (6-8 Feb), Chris is off to Nantes (where we used to live) for a mini Leadership weekend Course in French for leaders in the churches. These mini weekend courses are primers for the Leadership material in French. Pray for impact and good reception of the material . The theme is "Leadership and Relationships". Wow, what a big subject, right !

May the Lord motivate you to pray and to live for Him !

FOR MISSIONS COMMITTEE AT NEW IPSWICH CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH
Dear Friends in New Ipswich,

Christmas greetings from Chris and Danièle Lorimer, and many many thanks for standing with us all throught this year of 2008.

Thank you for praying in the coming weeks for these challenges:

*  Leadership Matters Course in Cameroon

From 15th to 31st of January, Chris will have the privilege of going back to Cameroon and  being part of an LMC. Some of the sessions will most likely be in French, which will be a first.

 * Luc Partnership Project

We have produced a nice brochure asking people in France to sponsor this 4 year start up translation project in the Banda Linda language (Central African Republique) which will produce the gospel of Luke and the Jesus film through a local African translation team.

I attach our brochure in French just so you can get an idea and pray for many to sponsor this project. And Danièle and I ask you to pray for the Central African Republic team of translators:  Clarence, Alfred, and Isidore. See their photo attached .

* Family: Team Lorimer

Anne (26) has just been to Malaysia to train teens in the importance of HIV/AIDS prevention. She is very involved in this OM ministry and will most likely stay on another year.

Lydie (22) is no longer a student, but working in a bi-lingual school in Montpellier. She is seriously thinking of finding work on the east coast of the USA next year.

Alexa (20) has just finished exams, and plans to go to Canada as exchange student to finish her BA in Cinema and Audiovisuel Arts.

Both Lydie and Alexa are involved in Campus Crusade and are helping to spearhead a new inter-youth quarterly meeting of Christian youth in the city of Montpellier they have baptised in French as “LIVE”.

May He be your peace all throughout this coming new year of 2009 !

FOR MISSIONS COMMITTEE AT NICC

October 2nd, 2008

Agrandir

Dear Friends NICC !  (Please share with all )

Greetings from Valence, France in our Lord's name.

As we start out on another school year, we wanted to update you with an encouraging "first time" event that we have seen happen in our ministry.

Many of you know we are involved in Leadership Training via the Leadership Training Course (LMC). One of our goals is to see this course be given in the French language (accent on leaders here in France as well in French speaking Africa) with a good solid team of French trainers. We have just made a firs t measureable20step in that we have had an mini course during a weekend with people from Nantes where we used to live.

Just 10 days ago 17 people from 3 different churches in the Nantes area (where we ministered for years with OM ) came to our first ever Leadership Matters weekend where we covered the area on Building Relationships. This was well received in spite our latent fear as a small group of trainers (3 of us, with 4 coaches helping at tables who have done the course once).

Although you don't know anyone's name, as you look at the following picture, you can pray for these brothers and sisters making a difference in their churches. As you scan over the picture you can pray for:  Annie, Pierre, Bruno, Sylvain, Sophie, Stéphanie, Julie, Timothée, and others.

Thank you for praying also for our three girls who are doing fine. Anne is really settling in to her ministry with OM in South Africa, and Lydie and Alexa still live together as students in the beautiful city of Montpellier just two hours from us. They are making an impact in students' lives thru the ministry of Agape (Campus Crusade) and becoming more involved in their local church which has an exciting open door.

Annual Project Funding Meetings, 7-9 October, Germany. Chris will spend part of next week at the Wycliffe annual gathering of European staff working in the area of fund raising. We are advancing g in our project to raise money for Bible translation here in France as we are contacting people to give to the start of translation project in Central African Republic in the Banda-Linda speaking people. We are excited to think we can get French people to finance African translators to give people God's Word in their own heart language ! Pray with us as we send out requests to over 400 people in the next few days..... that they would get involved financially !

Danièle and I send you our warmest greetings knowing that in spite of all the crazy things happening in the world He is working out His purpose in all the nations !

Until He comes !

Chris and Daniele
